Located in Downtown Des Moines, the Hippee-Polk Building was the tallest skyscraper in Iowa when it was constructed in 1913. Topping out at 12 stories, it was an example of the Chicago School of architecture at the height of the tripartile movement.
After undergoing an unfortunate renovation in the later half of the 20th century, BBC Investments resolved to restore this historic structure. The ground level facade is currently undergoing renovations to accommodate the new retail tenants moving into the building, including a corner cafe. Folding glass and mahogany wall panels at the southeast corner create an indoor/outdoor experience.
